DN: Got lostprophets news? Add it to the site!

Contribute

Here at DragonNinja, we’re trying out a new experiment: we’re letting you, our users, submit news stories. If you find anything about the boys, the music, or the band in general, we want you to write up a story and submit it. Once we’ve had a look at it, it’ll appear on the front page of DragonNinja and you’ll be credited as the writer.

What we want:

  • News stories about the band,
  • Interviews,
  • Reviews of their records you find on the internet,
  • Snippets about new albums,
  • Videos you find on the internet,
  • Anything about the band. If you think it’s interesting and about Lostprophets, then submit it!

What we don’t want:

  • Editorial. We know and appreciate the fact that you love the band, but unless you’re writing something exceptionally good, it probably won’t make the cut. We’re relying on you guys to go out and find info about Lostprophets, this isn’t a forum to say how much you like them. For that, we invite you to join our forums.
  • Anything about the personal life of the band members. We respect the privacy of the band at DragonNinja, and we won’t accept anything that is an invasion of their privacy. Stuff about the music, tours and concerts is fine; gossip column info is not.
  • Copyrighted material like mp3s. The media we have available at DragonNinja is sufficient. The record label have asked us to not add any more, so we won’t. Please don’t link to anything like this.

So we’re all clear on the rules then? You’ll probably want to know how you actually add stuff and what we expect:

  1. The first step is that you must register to contribute. At the moment, this is separate from forum registration, but we’re working on that in the background. You’ll need to use a valid email address when you register, because that’s where your password gets sent.
  2. Registered and found something you want to share with your fellow user? Write a new post. You should find this fairly straight forward: it’s just like using Microsoft Word, or any other word processor. It even has a spell-checker, if you need it. Note that if you haven’t already registered and logged in, you’ll be shown the log-in screen first.
  3. On each new post, we expect a link to whatever it is you’ve found (an article, an interview, a MySpace update, etc) and at least a small amount of text explaining what it is. Try and use your best English, but don’t worry about it too much. If your writing is a little weak, we’ll clean it up for you before we publish it.
  4. When you’re done writing, there’s a “Save” button right under the text editor. Hit that.
  5. Up until the point where someone comes along to decide to publish it, you can tweak it and add whatever you like.
  6. That’s it. Easy!

If you’re unsure as to what you can add or have any other questions, come speak to us on the forums or contact us by email. Although we do check our email regularly, you’ll get a faster response on the forums.

Help us make this work, and help DragonNinja stay great by contributing. Good luck!

P.S. If you think you can contribute in any other way, we’re interested in hearing how. We’ve previously accepted all kinds of help: wallpaper, buddy icons, MySpace street teams, technical help, web design etc. So don’t be afraid to get in touch.
