  1. Wow!! Fucking amazing album!! Ian & co delivered what they promised: a catchy, dark and nastier album!! For me two masterpieces are “Darkest Blue” and “The Light That Burns Twice As Bright…”.

  3. the album sucks, we wait to many years for that crap….. Next Stop Atro City is best in youtube live video than the studio version, the real thing is that, losprophets will never do something like TFSOP, theres to much pop involved in the rest albums… create best music instead of merchandise

  6. I pretty much agree with villainousprophet. The album isn’t great, i think a lot of Lostprophets fans of more recent years will love it because it totally panders to the new emo/catchy pop rock album, with the odd heavy riff and screaming here and there.

I can’t speak on behalf of other people, but I imagine fans who were old enough to remember TFSOP being released will probably be disappointed in Lostprophets 2 most recent attempts.

Anyone expecting an album reminicent of Start Something or TFSOP probably shouldn’t buy The Betrayed. Anyone expecting an annoying mix of catchy songs reminicent of Liberation Transmission with a few more heavier songs thrown in, this album is for you.

If it wasn’t for hate, Dstryr/Dstryr, we belong, and atro city are the only songs really worth listening to.

It kills me to say this but Lostprophets just aren’t delivering the quality they used to.

  8. @freeroller – “annoyingly catchy”!?

yeah, i really hate it when i hear songs that are catchy, i much prefer the hundreds on the readio that i forget about within 5 seconds…

..i mean, just when will bands like lostprophets stop making catchy music that i can listen to over and over again!?

so to sum up.. – “freeroller”, you’re a fucking moron.

  9. people people people. Lostprophets dont “pander” to anything. Their music has ALWAYS had a massive pop element, they are named after an 80’s pop band bootleg album for chris’ sake!!!
This album is everything i expected, ive been wih this band since before VN released TFSOP and the new album sounds like they are FINALLY having fun again!!! Alright track nine is an absolute pile of crap, but the rest of the album is so so good!!!

To say that some Youtube vesion of a song is better than the studio version just shows you have no idea about the production values that are on display. Or maybe you’ve just gotta getta betta stereo.

Can’t wait to see them live in Feb. Stop hating people, Fake Sound was partly conceived in the 90’s. Get over it and enjoy what they’re doing now!

  10. oh man, that was close to what I was hoping this album to be, all songs rock, but I thought that the studio version of “Next Stop Atro City”, is kinda slow compared to the “live” version, but I’m already used to this official version

  11. also…

… does anyone know what happened to the track “The Dead (This! Is!))”

that was the track i was most excited about hearing the studio version of, and then no!!!!!

Anyone think it’ll be a bside?? i’d love to have heard it live!

  12. @devon, firstly no need to get personal i was simply offering my opinion of the album.

Secondly, for me a catchy song does not make the song memorable, of cousre every song has a catchyness to it otherwise you wouldn’t like the song, nor would you be able to sing along to it etc. maybe annoyingly catchy wasn’t the best way to describe what i meant about the songs, basically what i was trying to say is that the songs are rubbish because it feels to me that lostprophets have just written songs that rely upon a catchy chorus rather than writings songs that you can appreciate more and more each time you listen to them. also to expand upon something you mentioned, A lot of the songs on the album are radio friendly songs, and for me i don’t think that is where Lostprophets strength is in their song writing. I feel Lostprohets are at their strongest when they are writing their less radio friendly songs (thats not to say i dislike all of their radio friendly songs).

but like i say that is my opinion i’m sure there will be plenty of people who agree and disagree with me.

I hope this makes my previous comment a bit clearer.

  13. I agree with william the final 2 songs on the album are the best 2 songs, epic in nature compared to the rest. for those u that worry bout next stop atro city dw it is much much crazier/heavier live so look forward to it. I don’t know who decided to axe ‘ac ricochet’ and ’sunshine’ from this album and only give it to japanese but shocking decision. If those songs were included in the uk version i assure u reviewers would give it better ratings they are both brilliant songs. I could easily find a couple of songs on the album that are weaker than these. The guys played ac ricochet live at forum too (so glad i heard it) so shows just how gd this b-side is, basically they never ever! play b sides live unlike other bands muse etc. Don’t get me wrong though i do love the album as a whole but is it just me or after next stop atro city who finds themselves skip track listen skip track listen, some songs just rather not listen too sometimes. It is frustrating that LP dont revert back to some more old style songs, success of start something is uncany. If you look at all there songs they play live majority are from this album which shows just how gd it was; still kill or hell we ride one them always features, last train, burn burn, last summer, godzilla will return so much demand and even start something they throw in here n there. as for joejoe i was lucky enough to be at ponty to hear the dead and i thought that songs was amazing! such gd live song! is a real shame didnt make album and thats the song im hoping for on next single, fingers crossed. overall though think album is fantastic 1st 5 songs amazing last 2 songs amazing and a better nothing amazing. streets of nowhere grows on me and is gd live singalong but that with dirty little heart are the most questionnable songs. for most bands these would be gd songs but for prophets standards i feel they could hav done a bit better here to make 2 more amazing songs. as they are though those songs are still good and credit has to be given where due. I gave review on kerrang website (yes i am one in podcast who met ian watkins :D ) and even after this time after initial listen n review i would still award this album 5K’s. Not better than start something but overall as an album the joint 2nd best the guys have produced with TFSOP. I cant decide between these two. individually for songs i would choose TFSOP with the classics on it but as a whole album betrayed prob has the edge so is too tough a call to make.

well think i pretty much summed it up in 10 yrs worth of writing, wat u guys think wat i say?
